"Torn" an Art Journal About Real Childhood Monsters (Part One)

Jackson Pollack said, "Today's painters do not have to go to a subject matter outside of themselves.  Most modern painters work from a different source.  They work from within." That being the case, some "within" parts can be more prickly than others.

I began this journal with no real end result in mind.  It certainly would not be subject for children's books.  Still, it is from this timeframe my own inspiration comes.

Ultimately,  I believe it is for all the other children (now adults) who lived through real monsters and came out the other side.  It is my way of saying, "You made it".

The title "Torn" was picked for two reasons:  the subject matter and that each image has a torn book page within it.
